THE PHASE rules & guidelines

In order to create a friendly and welcoming place for everyone to enjoy their favorite game, we need some law and order.

Please note: We reserve the right to change these rules & guidelines at any point in time.
In case that we become aware of a “loophole” or unintended & unreasonable interpretation of these rules & guidelines, we reserve the right to adjust and retroactively enforce these rules.
Point being, just because you might find a sneaky loophole does not mean that you have to abuse it! Be nice.

Rules and guidelines

Please Note: Our general code of conduct applies to all services including game servers.

Our code of conduct is the general specification of how to behave on our servers. This rule sheet is about rules specific to this server.

We differentiate between rules and guidelines, rules have to followed and failing to do so will result in punishment, meanwhile guidelines are meant to encourage a playstyle that benefits all players. Guidelines are not necessarily enforced by punishment.

[ Rules ]

§ 1 | Principals

  • Punishment to all rules are applied as our staff sees fit. There are no predefined punishments and all verdicts are final.
  • Do not intentionally abuse grey areas created by generalized rules. If we get the feeling you are doing so, punishment will be increased accordingly.
  • Similarly, do not intentionally abuse misconfigurations.
  • Spam or excessive CAPS in any chat is not tolerated.
  • As stated in our network wide code of conduct, any in-game chat or other means to express yourself, which includes but is not limited to signs, buildings, map art, books etc., is no ground for political or similar discussions

§ 2 | Player to Player interaction, combat and griefing

§ 2.1 | Player to Player combat

While the PVP mechanic is generally enabled on the server, it is not allowed to harm a player without reason or prior agreement.
Harming a player is not limited to direct PVP combat, but also includes trapping, baiting, or any other way to cause a disadvantage to another player.

An agreement for combat can reached via any form of communication, which does include in-game gestures, external voice chats and of course the chat.
If one seeks to fight the claim that an agreement was reached outside of the in-game chat, they have to present evidence.

§ 2.2 | Player interaction and griefing

Any for of griefing, intentional or unintentional, is prohibited.
Griefing includes, but is not limited to, destruction of blocks, damaging or killing a players animals, pets, or villagers, trolling, stealing, blocking or interfering with a players builds, or sabotaging in any form.

While we offer a claiming system to prevent these actions, this does not limit griefing rules to claimed builds. Builds and contraptions that are clearly player build are protected.

§ 3 | Buildings, farms and claiming

§ 3.1 | Base building

All player builds, claimed or not claimed are to be treated the same.
Any builds, be it a base, farms or infrastructure has to be designed as server friendly as possible. Builds that have a major, intentional or unintentional, performance impact are not permitted.
This includes the following examples; excessive item frame spam, excessive hopper spam, excessive usage of blocks that have an inventory or cause block updates. These blocks can have a major performance impact when excessively used.
The player responsible will be informed and depending on the severity of the performance impact they will be given time to remove it or staff will immediately remove it.

§ 3.2 | Contraptions and farms

§ 3.2.1 | Automatic farms
Farms that can operate fully automatic or without any active player interaction need to be designed with fail saves to prevent overflowing or any other interaction that can lead to a performance hit.
Loading an automatic farm while AFK is only permitted for a max of 6 hours, after which a player will get automatically kicked when AFK.
Any action to circumvent anti AFK measures without manual player input is prohibited.

§ 3.2.2 | Semiautomatic or manual farms
Farms that cannot function by purely being loaded and need player interaction are considered semiautomatic.
Semiautomatic farms also need to be designed with fails saves so that a farm cannot overflow.
Automating the player interaction with external tools like autoclickers, macros or mods is not allowed. You are only allowed to use fake players for that.

§ 3.3 | Claiming

§ 3.3.1 | What to claim
You are allowed to claim anything you build.
You are not allowed to claim an area to stop other players from doing something.
Claiming within 150 blocks of another players claim requires a written agreement with the owner of the claim. In this case, first come first serve.
Claiming important and unique structures like strongholds is not allowed.
Claiming Trial chambers is not allowed unless the happen to fall into your area that you are building. In that case refer to § 3.3.3.

§ 3.3.2 | How to claim
You can have up to 10 individual claims. There is no block limit to claims. If a claim does not follow the rules, the claim protection will be removed without warning.
You are allowed to claim your builds, and only your builds. The bounds of the claim cannot exceed the confines of your build by a significant amount, TL:DR, don’t make unnecessarily large claims.

§ 3.3.3 | Special rules

  • If your claim includes a Trial chamber, or part of a Trial chamber in accordance with § 3.3.1, you need to set your claims permissions accordingly; allow hostile mob spawning, allow hostile mob damaging, allow item pickup, allow interaction with bot types of vaults.
  • Claiming monuments is only allowed if said monument is used for a farm, like a guardian farm for example. Strongholds, bastions, nether fortresses and event structures cannot be claimed under any circumstance.
  • Farms that are based upon monuments or require a significant area in a specific location (structure or biome) can be claimed but its products need to be accessible (allow chest interaction for everyone in claim permissions).

§ 4 | Special Features

§ 4.1 | Carpet /player

We support the use of the /player command from the carpet mod for various purposes.
The /player command can be used when a player gets promoted to Advanced.
With that a player gains access to following features:

  • Spawning and manipulating fake players
  • Manipulating themselves
  • Shadowing themselves

Each player, ranked Advanced or above, is allowed to have 1 fake player.

§ 4.1.1 | Fake players

The use of fake players is allowed for the following actions:

  • Using the fake player as a chunkloader
  • Using the fake player to interact with semiautomatic farms

Some more specific use cases might not be listed here. If an action is not specifically prohibited, you will not get punished. We reserve the right to add or remove rules at any point. Punishments are not performed retroactively after rule changes.

AFK restrictions do not apply to fake players.
Fake players will not automatically respawn after a server restart. They will need to be manually replaced.

Even though every player, ranked Advanced or above, is allowed one fake player, not more than one fake player is allowed per claim simultaneously.

4.1.2 | Manipulating and shadowing yourself

The /player [name] [action] commands can be used on yourself at any time.
It is strictly prohibited to use these commands on other players.

AFKing with these commands:

  • Using /player commands to circumvent AFK prevention measures is allowed if the player does not currently have a fake player on the map.
  • Shadowing yourself, which turns you into a fake player with all its consequences, is not allowed if the player has a fake player on the map.

§ 5 | External tools and client modifications

§ 5.1 | Client modifications

In general, client modifications are allowed if they do not harm the integrity of the server by giving a player an unfair advantage or can be considered cheating.
We obviously do not have an allow or deny list for all mods out there. There will be gray areas. If you are unsure about a mod you want to use, please contact a staff member.

Mods that are not allowed include, but are not limited to:

  • Any form of XRay
  • Any form of tracers
  • Any form of PVP aid; Killaura, aimbot, Autototem etc.
  • Any form of movement modifications; Infinite Elytra flight, Speed, Flyhack etc.
  • Any mod that allows for the full automation of taks like Baritone and any of its derivatives
  • Any full client mod know as a “hacked client” no matter if its features are used or not.

The following mods are explicitly allowed:

  • Maps / Minimaps (We offer serverside support for Journeymap)
  • Any form of schematic mod
  • schematic printers as long as they obey the vanilla player rules (e.g. no increased reach)
  • Visual mods (e.g. Shaders, Distant Horizons)
  • Client tweaks (e.g. Tweakeroo, Inventory Sorting, command hotkeys, Freecam …)
  • Player aids that provide information that would otherwise be accessible as well (e.g. REI, JEI, EMI and however they are all called nowadays)

§ 5.2 | External tools

In general, external tools that provide the player with an unfair advantage or enable them to do things, they normally wouldn’t be able to, are not allowed.
This includes, but is not limited to scripts that enable the player to automate actions (except sending commands), autoclicker scripts or programs with unreasonable high click rates or external information sources like seed maps for example.
The use of these such tools, allowed or not allowed, to circumvent the anti AFK measures is prohibited.
